Berlin consumer electronics show continues to grow

In Industry News On

A record 228,600 visitors attended this year’s Berlin-based IFA technology fair, making it the biggest show in IFA’s 49-year history.

More than 1,600 exhibitors made the trip to Germany to showcase their latest technology, with 3D TV causing the greatest buzz. Both Sony and Panasonic pledged to launch products in 2010 while several other manufacturers also showed off their own 3D technology concepts.

The show also included a larger range of home appliance manufacturers, including LG, Electrolux and Dyson, after white goods were successfully debuted at last year’s show.

Dr Rainer Hecker, chairman of the supervisory board of the organisers, commented: “The IFA’s concept proved a complete success this year – and was reflected in a more international dimension, increased numbers of visitors and the response in the media. Ordering is becoming an almost continuous process at IFA, providing dealers and manufacturers with a more reliable basis for their planning and better opportunities for successful business”.

Next year’s IFA will take place 3-8 September 2010.
