Currys & PC World has revealed its top 10 predictions for big sellers this Christmas. Leading the list are tech ‘wearables’ the Samsung Gear Fit and the Fitbit Force.
Currys & PC World head of mobile computing and connectivity at Rupert Nichols said: “Customers are focusing on their health and fitness more than ever before and portable technology is very much the future, as busy customers want to be able to do more things remotely and conveniently. We’ve seen a steady rise in sales of wearable technology but we expect to sell a lot more units this Christmas as everyone will want to trim up in the New Year.”
The Samsung Gear fit equips consumers with instant notifications of emails, texts and incoming calls, as well as tracking fitness goals. With the Fitbit Force, the Garmin Forerunner 15 and the Motorola Moto 360 all featuring in the top ten, the fitness and wearable tech market is one that Currys expects to do particularly well.
Health conscious consumers could also be unwrapping the NutriBullet, a high-speed blender and juicer designed to break down food into a nutritious smooth juice or smoothie mix, which features at number four in the list.
Home juicing has surged in popularity and is expected to keep on growing as the nation continues its health kick – immediately after the Christmas party season and beyond. Currys & PC World reports that its juicer sales are up 143% year on year.
Category manager for small kitchen appliances Victoria Bennion said: “The rise in sales of juicers has been phenomenal and we expect this trend to continue. Home juicing and baking is something that anyone can do and these products will make the perfect gift for those who like to spend time in the kitchen.”
Fifth place is secured by the Sonos ‘Multi Room System’, and Currys claims ‘multi-room home audio is ever growing, and the user experience has become tailored to suit individual tastes with products now available in a wide range of colours’.
Laurence Mitchell, head of category for audio, imaging and games, comments: “Stylish multi room audio systems like Sonos are proving extremely popular as Brits look to push their home entertainment credentials to the absolute limit. Our multi room audio sales are up a massive 257% year on year.”
