John Lewis reports 36% year on year fridge freezer sales increase

In Industry News On

Following the recent hot weather spell, John Lewis reported a 36% increase in fridge freezer sales compared to the same period in 2012.

Vic Sinclair, buyer for large appliances at John Lewis said of the news: “Prolonged heat can cause problems with old fridge freezers as the compressors have to work much harder to keep everything cool. We have seen sales increases across all types of refrigeration with people investing in a new appliance.”

Also thought to be a contributing factor to the increase in sales was the consumer peace of mind that in addition to the manufacturers’ guarantee, John Lewis offers a second year guarantee at no extra cost on branded large appliances and a three-year guarantee on John Lewis own label appliances.
