Retail opportunities during National Home Security Week
THE dates of this year’s National Home Security Week have been announced by Micromark, home security manufacturer and the main sponsor of the event. It will take place between 25 and 31 August of 2007. It is the sixth year of the annual campaign, designed to encourage home owners to think about simple home security measures and help prevent crime in their home.
This year’s campaign will run over the summer holiday period, culminating in the August Bank Holiday week.
Research by Micromark has shown that 67% of burglars were put off targeting a house if it had an alarm or CCTV system installed, and 72% of consumers worry about being burgled while on holiday. This and other similar messages are invaluable sales tools to encourage consumers to act now to improve their home security measures. They should come with retailers’ advice on the features, benefits and installation of such equipment as CCTV cameras, alarms and security lighting.
