Samsung launches distribution scheme for independents

In Industry News On
samsungSamsung Home Appliances UK has announced the launch of a new distribution scheme for UK independent retailers.

The Home Innovation Partners (HIPS) initiative is an exclusive new scheme designed to support UK independents by improving their access to and supply of Samsung’s range of home appliance products.

The initiative will see Samsung work with two key distributors to service independent dealers throughout the UK; Hampshire-based distributor Portway will provide Samsung’s Major Domestic Appliances, including refrigeration, laundry and built-in, while Connect, based in Birmingham, will manage Small Domestic Appliances (SDA), covering Samsung’s floorcare products and microwaves.

According to the release, approximately 30 independent dealers have been given Samsung HIP status which will result in more regular visits from their respective Samsung account managers, access to bespoke displays in store and supply of a wider range of products via an online portal. Retail staff at each independent dealer will also be able to download product images and specifications and take part in training modules.

Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland general manager Peter Hall said: “The independent channel presents a huge opportunity for us as we look to drive innovation at the premium end of the market. With our current range of built-in cooking appliances, refrigeration and laundry products, plus plans in place to expand our range of hoods and induction hobs, we have a really strong product proposition. Having worked with both Portway and Connect for the past six years, they are the perfect partners for us as we look to roll this new initiative out across the UK.”
