Earlier this month, Combined Independents (Holdings) Ltd (CIH), part of Euronics, Europe’s largest electrical buying organisation, hosted its annual Euronics golf day. Taking place at the beautiful Celtic Manor, over 50 members and suppliers enjoyed a socially distanced but enjoyable day of networking and sporting endeavour.

“We’d originally planned for the golfing event to take place in May, but, obviously, rescheduled due to COVID-19,” commented Stuart Cook, CEO of Combined Independents (Holdings) Ltd. “Moving the event to September proved a great success. The sun shone down on us as industry colleagues and friends came together to play a day of competitive golf on a stunning course, do business and enjoy each other’s company. Thank you to everyone who joined us on the day and to our event sponsors.”

The event, which was supported by Beko, B/S/H/, Dyson, Electrolux, Glen Dimplex, Hisense, LG, Miele, Mostly Media, Rangemaster, Retracare, Statesman, Smeg, Sony and Whirlpool, saw the attendees tee off on the Roman Road Course. Personalised buggies were on standby, as well as gloves and masks to ensure the event met COVID Secure guidelines.

After a full day of golf, Euronics presented trophies to the winners. The first place team included Tim Greenslade, Lewis’s; Jeremy Hill, Homemaker; Tom Hopper, Miele; and Steve Rickersey, Miele, who was also awarded the first place individual supplier trophy. Frank Craig from Frank B. Craig was awarded the Euronics Family Trophy as the first place individual member. The trophy was kindly donated by Steve Scogings, Chairman of Combined Independents (Holdings) Ltd, whose father won the award many years ago. Frank Craig was also recognised for Best on Par 4s, while Alex Salt from Domestic Appliances Sudbury received the prize for Best of Par 5s.

Home to the 2010 Ryder Cup, the 2000 PGA Cup and the All*Star Cup, Celtic Manor features three championship golf courses – The Twenty Ten Course, The Montgomerie Course and Roman Road Course – and two golf and country clubhouses – the Twenty Ten clubhouse and the Lodge clubhouse.
