EIC: plan ahead for a stress free January

In Industry News On

The Electrical Industries Charity is urging people to plan their spending wisely this Christmas to avoid falling into debt in the New Year.

Getting into debt is something which can happen to anyone but if it is not dealt with sensibly then it can spiral out of control leaving people feeling anxious and depressed, the charity says.

Operations manager Jill Nadolski said: “At this time of year there is a lot of pressure on people to buy presents and food for the festive period. If you add to that the burden of rising energy bills, which are always a cause for concern during the winter months, then it is easy to see why people start to struggle with their finances.

“It is very easy to say that you should avoid falling into debt but unforeseen circumstances can take anyone by surprise and for those within our industry who are struggling then the good news is that you don’t have to suffer alone.”

One of the services offered by the Electrical Industries Charity is free debt advice via the Confidential Helpline. One phone call will put you through to the helpline advisors who work with the Debt Advice Network and other debt charities to provide individual solutions to managing debt.

Jill added: “When people fall into debt quite often they ignore the problem but this will only make it worse. We therefore urge people to call our Helpline because talking it through with one of our advisors will not only help to ease the burden but it will also provide access to a wide range of practical solutions to managing debt and help you to bring your finances back under control.”

The Confidential Helpline number is: 0800 652 1618.
