In Industry News On

You may have noticed that over recent months we have published several articles with actionable advice to help the independent retailer survive these uncertain times. I refer to the series on merchandising and store redevelopment and the reports on improving sales skills for retail staff, such as cross selling or upselling.

However, I am sure that this is only the tip of the iceberg of your needs at present. Therefore I’m asking you to write, email or call me and let me know your most pressing concerns which we could help you handle – as your trade magazine. After all The Independent Electrical Retailer does ‘what it says on the tin’ – it is the trade title of the independent and we want to stand for what’s most important for you.

You may have read in the January ’09 issue of IER that the Independent Marketing Awards have been relaunched this year as the Independent Business Awards which reflects the change of focus. It is also indicative of much greater involvement of independent dealers in the nomination process – as well as making them winners of the Independent Retailer and Best Customer Service Awards. If you know of anyone in the electrical retailing who deserves to be recognised for the work they do in the industry please let us know or alternatively visit the dedicated website: www.independentbusinessawards.com and make your nominations.

With your help the Awards will become a true reflection of the efforts and achievements of the independent electrical sector.
