Michael R Peters’ team embraces Olympic spirit

In Industry News On

Bedford-based independent Michael R Peters, which regularly participates in the Bedford River festival, made a memorable appearance during this year’s festivities. The MRP team has built a Roberts Union Jack DAB radio for display on top of one of the company’s vans measuring over 3.6 metres wide and 2.1 metres high. “The battery was huge! The sound it produced even bigger! Continuing the Olympic theme of the parade we had volunteers dressed as large tennis balls, basketballs, hockey, table tennis and footballs with two boxers, a gymnast and a weightlifter added for good measure,” commented Paul Mead, MD of Michael R Peters.

“Team MRP volunteers consisted of staff, friends, relations and children and we were very privileged to have Iva Barr with us. Iva was one of Bedford’s Olympic torchbearers and keen member of the Harriers running club.

“After having fun in the River Festival street parade we took to the Embankment where Team MRP set to with an impromptu fundraising session that lasted five hours! Inviting members of the public to have their picture taken with Iva and her Olympic torch we raised a staggering £566 which will be sent to local charities.”
