REPIC announces leadership changes

In Industry News On

After nearly two decades of dedicated service, Louise Grantham has decided to leave her position as REPIC’s chief executive.

REPIC was established 20 years ago and Grantham has played a pivotal role in the development of the organisation and in shaping the direction of UK producer responsibility legislation, with a keen focus on sustainability and responsible waste management. As well as working closely with REPIC’s producer members and the producer trade associations forming the Joint Trade Associations (JTA), Grantham has dedicated significant time and effort to nurturing collaborations across the sector, addressing the challenges and opportunities within battery, electrical and packaging waste management in the UK and Europe. She has also headlined many industry events and has been instrumental in driving sustainable partnerships and strong working relationships that benefit both REPIC, its producer scheme members and the wider sector.

Since becoming chief executive in 2020, under her strategic guidance and innovative approach, REPIC has maintained its position as the UK’s leading WEEE producer compliance scheme, and led the way on the delivery of a circular economy; through supporting REPIC’s producer members in the development of circular business models to furthering sector knowledge by undertaking market leading research on key topics such as product flows, the carbon impact of WEEE recycling, consumer attitudes to reuse and recycling and critical raw materials. Grantham will formally leave her position on 31st March 2024.

“It has been an honour and privilege to work with the fantastic REPIC team and our producer members in establishing this great organisation and to be a part of a sector that is making a real difference. It has been extremely rewarding to work with colleagues from across a wide range of organisations to develop the battery, packaging and WEEE producer responsibility systems we have in place today. I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to seeing how this develops further as the sector continues to play its part in establishing a circular economy. I am confident that now is the right time for me to pass on the torch and I have full confidence in the capable hands of Graeme and the wider team in continuing to build on the success of REPIC,” she said.

Graeme Milne, REPIC director, added: “I am honoured and excited to step into this new role. Louise has been an incredible mentor, and I am fortunate to lead a hugely talented and committed team that will continue to help realise our goal to lead and shape producer responsibility.”

REPIC chairman, Abs Bokhari, chairman of Hoover Limited, commented: “Personally and on behalf of the Board of REPIC, I would like to extend our gratitude to Louise for her exceptional leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to the success of REPIC over the last 19 years – She has played a crucial role in fostering growth, driving innovation, and championing excellence.

“As we bid farewell to Louise, I would like to extend my welcome to Graeme Milne as the incoming chief executive; Graeme has been an integral part of the REPIC team, serving on the REPIC board as the strategic business development director for nearly four years. With over 21 years in the waste management sector, his extensive experience, deep understanding of the WEEE industry, and proven track record of driving results makes him the ideal leader to steer REPIC on its next phase, building on Louise’s legacy.”

In 2024, REPIC reaches a momentous milestone as it celebrated its 20th anniversary. To commemorate this significant occasion, REPIC is in the process of planning a series of initiatives that will highlight the remarkable journey and achievements of the company over the past two decades.
