Following the return of The Great British Bake Off to our screens, Brits are turning their attention to baking once again, as sales of baking appliances have significantly increased according to AppliancesDirect.co.uk.
With the opening episode attracting 6.5 million viewers, Appliances Direct has experienced a surge in demand for baking appliances such as mixers, weighing scales and ovens, as baking fever sweeps the nation.
AppliancesDirect.co.uk marketing manager Mark Kelly said: “Since the return of season eight of The Great British Bake Off to our screens, we have seen an extraordinary increase in in sales of baking appliances, and we expect to see this continue over the coming weeks, as more and more Brits are inspired to take up the art of baking.
“Since Paul Hollywood, joined by Prue Leith, returned for the eighth series of the much-loved The Great British Bake Off, we have seen a staggering 180% increase in sales of stand mixers.
“We have also seen a significant increase (110%) in sales of food processors. Perfect for amateur and professional bakers, the food processor is favoured for the numerous preparation techniques it offers.”
He added: “There has also been a considerable spike in sales (60%) of larger appliances such as the Neff Slide & Hide oven range since the return of the show, suggesting that Brits are upgrading their kitchens in a bid to achieve the perfect bake.
“In the small appliances category, we have seen sales of weighing scales soar by 42%, including the electriQ Folding Weighing Scales, an essential accessory for any baker.
“It’s clear to see the impression the show has on Brits from week to week, as this week alone we have seen an increase in demand for breadmaking appliances including our range of breadmakers following last week’s bread episode.”
