Currys has opened a new store in Cambridge, introducing an upgraded shopping experience with hands-on product demonstrations, an enhanced gaming zone and a dedicated business hub.
The new store, on Cambridge Retail Park, is located a few doors along from the retailer’s previous premises – and marks its 26th year in the city.
Designed to give customers more opportunities to experience technology before making a purchase, the store features a refreshed layout, new digital screens, dedicated demonstration areas and a purpose-built Currys Business Hub.
The Hub will provide local business customers with access to expert advice and help finding technology to meet their business needs.
In addition, there are dedicated demonstration spaces for coffee products and an enhanced gaming experience, alongside a flexible front-of-store event area for live demonstrations and product showcases supported by suppliers.
The store also features an improved Order & Collect area to make collecting online purchases easier, as well as upgraded recycling points where customers can exchange old technology for at least £5 in Currys vouchers.

Further improvements include designated seating areas where customers can discuss purchases with colleagues, alongside a new lighting and sound system.
Currys said the Cambridge store will be used to test improvements that could be introduced elsewhere across its UK and Ireland estate, depending on customer feedback and results.
“I’m so excited about our stores and online working together as one,” said Lindsay Haselhurst, Chief Operating Officer at Currys. “Colleagues are at the very heart of what makes Currys special, and our stores give them a brilliant place to bring amazing technology to life, helping customers discover, experience and get the most from the latest tech.
“I can’t wait to welcome Cambridge customers into the new store and see them enjoying even more ways to see, feel and try the tech for themselves.”
As one of almost 300 Currys stores across the UK and Ireland, the new Cambridge premises combines online shopping with in-store expertise, allowing customers to research products online, try them in person or order online and collect in store.
The retailer said the new layout and facilities are designed to put customers at the centre of the shopping experience, giving them greater flexibility in how they discover and purchase technology.
