Italian domestic appliance manufacturer Candy Group has announced that it has started a new production unit in Eskişehir, in the north west of Turkey, building on a 13,600sqm area in a property already owned by the Group.
The new unit has gathered a total investment of 15 million euros in products and facilities and will employ 300 workers with an estimated annual production capacity of about 800,000 pieces, the company says.
This unit has been created to develop a new high-efficiency production process, aimed at creating smart appliances. The new plant is the second production unit of the Candy Group in Turkey, and will produce what the manufacturer claims is the first dishwasher on the market featuring Artificial Intelligence equipped with an internal optical sensor, able to identify the quantity and type of loaded dishes, automatically suggesting the most appropriate program and the best options for washing.
The new factory is described as an essential step in the evolution and growth plan towards “Industry 4.0” of Candy Group, the overarching aim of which is the consolidation of leadership in the sector of the latest generation of household appliances and their possible applications.
Candy Group chief executive Beppe Fumagalli commented: “The strong focus on innovation that has always characterized the Candy Hoover Group has led us to invest in a new factory in Turkey, intended exclusively for the production of intelligent household appliances.
“The goal was to conceive and implement the development of technologies, increasing the quality of production processes and encouraging the management of the knowledge required to enhance the capabilities of all the operations performed within the factory.”
