Miele GB’s head of technical management, Paul Wright, has been appointed as the chair of the technical committee for AMDEA, effective from 1 February 2024.
The trade association represents the interests of manufacturers of small and large domestic appliances. It plays a pivotal role in shaping industry regulations, legislation, and directives, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and environmental sustainability in household appliances.
With nearly 20 years of invaluable experience at Miele GB, Wright has demonstrated exceptional expertise and leadership. His journey with the company began as a technical trainer in 2004, progressing through roles as chief technician, technical manager, and senior technical manager, before stepping into his current role in December 2022.
Before joining Miele GB, Wright was at Hotpoint Appliances Ltd for 15 years as a senior technician. His extensive experience and consistent dedication to technical excellence make him the ideal candidate to lead AMDEA’s technical committee.
Wright said: “It’s a privilege to take on the role of chair of the technical committee for AMDEA. This position is not only a recognition of our hard work at Miele but also a significant responsibility to drive positive changes in the industry. I’m excited to leverage this opportunity to foster innovation, enhance safety standards, and contribute to the environmental sustainability of the appliance industry.”
As chair, he will oversee setting technical priorities for AMDEA in areas such as safety, EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility), WEEE, environment, standardisation and addressing the implications of Brexit. He will also play a crucial role in developing the association’s position on cybersecurity, leading industry consultation responses to EU directives, and maintaining active stakeholder engagement.
John Pickering, managing director for Miele GB, added: “Paul’s appointment not only reflects his own professional acumen and standing within the industry, but also Miele’s dedication to industry excellence and influencing positive change in government and industry regulations.”
