Haier Europe has reported a 63 per cent year-on-year reduction in operational greenhouse gas emissions, alongside a significant increase in its use of renewable electricity.
The figures come from the company’s 2025 Sustainability Report, which shows renewable electricity accounted for more than 80 per cent of its electricity use in 2025, up from 45 per cent in 2024.
Combined Scope 1 and market-based Scope 2 emissions fell from around 36,600 tonnes of CO2 equivalent to approximately 13,600 tonnes.
Haier Europe said the results support its target of reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 50 per cent by 2030, against a 2021 baseline, with an ambition to achieve operational carbon neutrality by 2050.
Renewable electricity from procurement and on-site solar generation more than doubled to around 42,700MWh during 2025, with projects in Turkey, Italy and China.
The company also reported a waste recycling rate of more than 98 per cent, while more than 31,000 tonnes of waste electrical and electronic equipment were collected and around 27,600 tonnes of recycled materials recovered.
Haier Europe said appliance efficiency remains central to its sustainability strategy, as the use of sold products represents the largest part of its carbon footprint. The company highlighted energy-efficient appliances and connected features designed to help consumers reduce energy and water consumption, including smart functions across washing, refrigeration, cooking and dishwashing.
Its hOn connected platform also provides consumption monitoring, maintenance alerts and personalised guidance, while partnerships with energy providers can help consumers schedule appliance use around electricity prices.
Karim Bruneo, Communication, Public Affairs, ESG and Sustainability Director at Haier Europe, said: “Sustainability is integral to the way we make decisions, innovate and grow. The direction set out in this report reflects a transformation that goes beyond individual initiatives: it is about building a more resilient business that creates lasting value for consumers, employees, partners and the communities in which we operate.”
The report also recorded more than 109,000 hours of employee training delivered during 2025, alongside initiatives covering responsible sourcing, repairability, durability and refurbishment.
