Set-top box provider Humax has announced that it has introduced Netflix instant streaming to its range of FVP-4000T Freeview Play HD devices.

HumaxCurrently serving 81 million subscribers, Netflix streams more than 125 million hours of content to its international members every day. With a multitude of compelling TV series, documentaries and movies on offer, Humax FVP-4000T users in the UK will be treated to the full Netflix selection, from gripping TV dramas, to award-winning Netflix originals like House of Cards, plus home-grown comedy, with popular classics such as Only Fools and Horses and The Office available as full box sets to consume at their leisure.

Humax commercial director Graham North commented: “With the ever-increasing ‘binge-watching’ phenomenon, where entire series are consumed with no interruptions or commercial breaks, we have witnessed a dramatic revolution in viewing habits over the past two to three years. With the Netflix app fully integrated into the Humax FVP-4000T home page, our customers will now benefit from a seamless, ‘watch instantly’ streaming experience and an exceptional, diverse choice of entertainment options with unlimited hours of extra programming – in addition to the extensive range of on-demand and subscription-free services already on offer to them.”

The Humax FVP-4000T was the first PVR to deliver the Freeview Play connected TV service, which provides a combination of on-demand services, catch-up TV and live television in high definition (HD), Humax adds. The device includes built-in Wi-Fi, allowing it to be connected to any broadband service, giving instant access to all Freeview Play catch-up TV services, such as BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4 and Demand 5.

The FVP-4000T also boasts three built-in digital HD tuners, enabling users to view and record more than 60 subscription-free TV channels and 25 radio channels (and allowing owners to record up to four programmes simultaneously, whilst viewing a fifth live channel). The product features a scroll back TV guide with seven day catch-up function, and viewers can also pause and rewind live television. In addition, customers have a choice of 500GB or 1TB hard drive options, with up to 300 or 600 hours of storage capacity respectively.
