PANGOO, a new and innovative Chinese brand, is establishing itself in the UK and seeking the cooperation of the independent channel as its chosen distributor. The majority of the brand’s shares are owned by Tsinghua University in Beijing, which is also responsible for the technological know-how and product innovations of the company.
Founded in 1989 as a start-up technology company of the Tsinghua University, THTF – the parent company of the Pangoo brand – are now the second largest PC manufacturer in China, but its business expertise extends from IT services and solutions, through digital media to energy and environmental engineering. It currently operates in 30 countries worldwide, while its European headquarters are in Germany. It is entering the UK with its digital media business, initially digital televisions followed by mobile communication products.
In 2010, Pangoo will be offering in the UK 19 to 47in LCD TVs, 22-42in superslim LED and backlit LCD TVs and 32-42in slim LCD TVs. In the last quarter of 2010 the company plans to start selling 32 and 42in NetTVs and 42in borderless LED backlit LCD TVs.
Pangoo intends to avoid the pitfalls of entering the market through low cost, online channels which offer low margins and lack of price and channel control. Instead the company will provide channel exclusivity to independent electrical dealers to whom it promises to offer good margins, channel bonuses, incentives and rebates. To give confidence to its retailers and consumers Pangoo will provide all its products with a free three year warrantee. The company also promises to collect, repair and return all products within seven days and provide direct contact numbers and dedicated UK staff to handle all calls in the UK and Ireland.
