UK AV and consumer electronics group, TVD Group, is celebrating 30 years in business in 2026, alongside the 10th anniversary of its British television brand, Mitchell & Brown.

Founded in 1996 as a family-run television business, TVD Group has grown into an independent AV technology group covering commercial AV integration, consumer electronics and television retail.

The company says it has generated more than £342 million in cumulative turnover, sold over 1.5 million products, completed more than 200,000 installations and supported customers across more than 60,000 client sites.

Despite that growth, TVD Group says its focus remains on customer service: “Thirty years in business has shown that what customers philosophy started with the Brown family in 1996 and it runs through TVD Group today,” said Managing Director Lucia Maguire.

“Whether we’re supporting an independent retailer selling a Mitchell & Brown television or delivering a major AV installation for a national hospitality customer, our job is fundamentally the same: understand what the customer needs, deliver it properly and support them afterwards television and AV industry.”

TVD Group was established by Jim Brown and his sons, Matthew and Daniel, and has evolved alongside major changes in the television and AV industry, from CRT and analogue broadcasting to flat-panel displays, Smart TVs, UHD, digital signage and LED video walls.

Its TVC Technology Solutions operation now specialises in commercial AV specification, installation and support, particularly across the hospitality, leisure and entertainment sectors.

Projects have included installations for Hollywood Bowl, F1 Arcade, Genting Casinos and Racketeer, as well as national and multi-site deployments across hospitality, leisure, retail, betting and gaming.

Mitchell & Brown, launched in 2016, is also celebrating its 10th anniversary in November. The British television brand was created with independent electrical retailers at the centre of its distribution strategy. Its products are sold through independent dealers and supported by UK-based customer service, sales and technical teams, alongside a seven-year warranty.

“Independent retailers represent many of the things TVD Group believes in,” said Mr Maguire. “They know their customers, they understand the products they sell and, crucially, they’re there when somebody needs help.

“Ten years later, we’re incredibly proud of what the brand and our retail partners have achieved together. More importantly, we remain every bit as committed to championing independent electrical retail for the next decade.”

In 2024, TVD Group transitioned to majority employee ownership, giving employees involved in customer relationships, installations, technical support and day-to-day operations a direct stake in the company’s future.

“Thirty years is a wonderful milestone, and 10 years of Mitchell & Brown makes 2026 particularly special,” Mr Maguire added. “But we’re very much celebrating 30 years young. Being employee-owned gives everyone across the company a stake in what happens next, and there is a great deal more we want to achieve.”
